We had an excellent members' evening with a good attendance, which was improved by the opening of Friars Walk. Car parks were open until 10.30pm and the entrance was less intimidating than it had been previously when the hoarding was in place. Many members brought in Maybery pictures and Richard Frame gave a short resume of all he knew about the artist. Many members had much to add which made the evening more interactive. Richard also talked about artist Stanley Lewis and especially about his large work of art on display in the gallery. Christabel Hutchings finished the evening with a talk about cartoonist Bert Thomas whom she had discovered was born in Newport. We were so pleased that Oliver Blackmoore was with us and provided art work from the NM&AG collections by the artists under discussion.
